Microfinance Impact Assessment is moving away from narrow, donor-focused assessment events, and towards more practitioner-focused processes. The greatest danger is conformity. No two Impact Assessments should be the same unless organisations and the contexts in which they work are exactly the same. It is too easy to follow good practice that has gone before, and to replicate the application of Impact Assessment tools without going through the necessary process which leads to the decision of how to approach a particular task, and what tools to select to fulfill our aims.
