Evaluating a social performance rating tool

This User Review evaluates Planet Rating’s social performance rating tool (SPT) and identifies its strengths, weaknesses and ideal user profile.

The review observes that the tool is thorough and efficient, easy to use, covers all areas of social performance and yields accurate results. It has depth of analysis, validation and reporting, and is easy to implement due to clarity of preparation instructions and on-site execution.

Users identify short time frame, small size of review team and superficial inclusion of client views as the tool’s weaknesses. The review includes the following general observations:

All users purchased social rating as a supplement to financial rating;
Most users received the final report within three months of the on-site visit;
Most users had confidence in the results and level of verification;
Uses of SPT include establishing a baseline for social performance and communicating social performance to stakeholders;
All users felt that Planet Rating’s SPT met their expectations;
Planet Rating does not include a field survey, and is best suited for users seeking an independent graded view of an MFI’s social performance and commitment.
