Barasat Anweshan was founded in November 2003. It is a registered NGO whose mission is to uplift the status of urban and rural women and children in India. Its mission is to make people economically self-reliant by creating job opportunities and providing other financial services thereby alleviate poverty from the society.

ANWESHAN has launched its Microcredit program in the year 2005. This program has been designed to serve large numbers of the poor, especially women, with trustworthy access to cost effective financial services. It generally targets poor women through its microfinance program. Barasat Anweshan developed & tested a sustainable credit model in West Bengal. The microcredit services of Barasat Anweshan assist the group members to become economically self sufficient. It’s microfinance model is sustainable & cost effective with large outstretch. This model is implemented in the field through decentralized branch offices. Each branch office consists of one Manager (BM) & four Field Officers (F.O).
