The Western Massachusetts Enterprise Fund, Inc. (WMEF) was formed in 1989 as a nonprofit 501c(3) and became certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Its primary role is to bring financial and business resources to western and central Massachusetts in order to stimulate economic growth and foster a stable regional economy.

WMEF is working to strengthen communities by creating economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income people in western and central Massachusetts. All SBA, USDA, and other funded projects are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis. Services include:

• --Provide capital to businesses;
• --Provide business mentoring and support;
• --Work with business and community organizations to grow and strengthen the region's economy.
