The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) founded in 1966 is a global charity for international development research, teaching and communications. IDS aim to challenge convention and to generate fresh ideas that foster new approaches to development policy and practice. The development research programmes at IDS are organised in five closely linked multidisciplinary teams: globalization, governance, knowledge technology and solutions, participation power and social change, vulnerability and poverty reduction. The IDS vision is a world in which poverty does not exist, social justice prevails and sustainable growth promotes human wellbeing.
