Udyogini was set up to co-ordinate and facilitate management training for grassroots women's groups for the World Bank Institute-funded Women's Enterprise Management Training Outreach Program (WEMTOP). Udyogini is involved in facilitating the development of agriculture, non-timber forest produce, artisan and service retail microenterprises where women are not only producers but also managers and entrepreneurs involved in a variety of value-added tasks. It facilitates the learning of relevant management and technical skills that are required for making such microenterprises profitable and increase incomes of women producers-- skills needed not only to manage their production but also to market their products in a better way and ensure better returns.
Udyogini’s mission is to provide quality and appropriate business development services for training and promotion of poor women as entrepreneurs. The three core products of Udyogini are microenterprise training and handholding, value chain development (especially focused on gender inclusion), and market linkages. Services related to these products (training needs assessment, training module development and delivery, research and documentation) are offered to NGOs, government, donors, and others.
