The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. Its mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. Drawing on facts and real-life experience, they recommend policies designed to make the lives of ordinary people better.

They work with business, through the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD, and with labour, through the Trade Union Advisory Committee. OECD has active contacts as well with other civil society organisations. OECD uses its wealth of information on a broad range of topics to help governments foster prosperity and fight poverty through economic growth and financial stability and help ensure the environmental implications of economic and social development are taken into account.
