Established in the early 1960s, the OSU Rural Finance Program is a recognized leader in the analysis of rural financial markets and other finance and development questions. The program is housed in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics. It has significant experience in research, instruction, technical assistance, and information dissemination and has published extensively in the area of microenterprise development. The program created the Devfinance discussion list on the internet, which is the largest industry listserv in operation. The OSU program was also involved in an investigation of the role and conditions for success of microfinance apex organizations, in collaboration with CGAP.In the US domestic scenery, the OSU program has been involved in an experiment to identify the effects of cash-flow management and borrower counseling on the repayment performance of low-income mortgage loan borrowers.
