| LAVS is concerned about these issues and has resolved to actively supplement the noble efforts of the government for eradication of poverty. The latest move of the state government to empower and activate the panchayat raj institutions in local governance and development will bring results if simultaneously the grassroots development processes are animated by the informed involvement of community groups like SHGs, CBOs, farmers associations etc. LAVS has focused on livelihood issues in the context of locally available skills and productive assets at the disposal of households and communities. The trajectory is full of grave challenges due to very marginal land holding on the part of a majority number of targeted client groups. The economic boom being celebrated under the impact of globalization does not help much the rural poor and tribals since they have little to offer to the market other than sheer physical labour. LAVS has addressed these issues by raising capacities of the potential entrepreneurs for taking up gainful self employment activities with the help of locally available raw materials and resources. Above all LAVS is very much involved in projects related to Environment, Natural Resource Management, Health, Education, and Rural Infrastructure with focus on Water Conservation, Wasteland Development and Connectivity. | |
