Established in 2003 and based in Ahmedabad, India, the Indian School of Microfinance for Women focuses on:

• Building institutions that respond to poor women
• Understanding the lives of poor women
• Strengthening women leaders and management
• Promoting financial literacy

Based on these thematic areas, the School’s activities are broadly categorized into four areas:

• Training and capacity building
• Research, documentation and dissemination
• Technical assistance and consultancy
• Program management

In 2005, the Citi Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) was launched as a department of the School exclusively focused on financial literacy.
