Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT), committed for development of the rural livelihoods, was established as an independent legal entity by Krishak Bharti Co-operative Limited with the support from Govt. of India and Department for International Development (DFID), U.K. After its inception, it has managed and implemented programmes for enhancing sustainable livelihood development and poverty reduction and empowering communities to manage resources in rural and tribal areas, initially under direct control of KRIBHCO, and since 2000, independently. Initial funding for its projects was made available by DFID-UK.
GVT's mission is to become a center for excellence, act as a catalyst to enable and empower rural poor to improve livelihood sustainability and aims to develop, implement, disseminate, effective and equitable and sustainable participatory policies and programmes for reducing rural poverty in the rainfed areas of India. GVT specializes in fields like natural resource management, watershed development, agriculture, livelihood improvement, institutional development, women empowerment, labour supports and micro enterprise development. Its goal is to develop, implement, disseminate effective, equitable and sustainable participatory policies and programs for reducing rural poverty in the rainfed areas of India.
