Grameen Koota, a division of Grameen Financial Services, began in May 1999 as a project under the T. Muniswamappa Trust, an NGO. It has now transformed into a well-regulated and governed NBFC â MFI (Non Banking Financial Company) and has expanded the breadth of offerings under GFS to include a wider variety of financial products and social development services.
Its mission is,
- To transform and uplift the lives of poor and low income families with micro finance services and other developmental services;
- be a sustainable, friendly and trusted provider of affordable and need based services.
Working on an adaptation of the Grameen Bank lending methology, Grameen Koota offers collateral-free loans to women from poor and low-income households. These loans help build livelihoods, raising the standard of living and consequently helping beneficiaries break themselves and their families out of the poverty.
