Grameen Foundation Australia is a non-profit organization based in Sydney, with representation across all the States and Territories of Australia. It was founded in 1998, initially called Grameen Bank Support Group Australia, to help and support the work and mission of Grameen Bank and microfinance programs worldwide. GFA is an Australian initiative in the mission and effort to combat poverty, particularly in the mode set by the celebrated Grameen Bank, the Grameen Trust and their affiliate organizations and initiatives. Their goal is to see that poor people, especially the poorest and those living in remote areas, have access to microfinance and other development programs, and as a result of access to these services, move themselves out of poverty with dignity and capacity.
