MiCrédito is an MFI that was founded on July 1st, 2004. The management team and its partner, the Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), have been involved in microlending in Nicaragua since 1990 through Fundacion Chispa, which later evolved into MiCredito. MiCrédito provides appropriate and sustainable credit services to micro and small urban and rural businesses and producers. MiCrédito’s vision is to establish a profitable and sustainable financial institution in Nicaragua with national coverage in key locations in order to serve small urban and rural businesses and producers. It plans to provide at least 60% of its loan portfolio to rural borrowers and hopes to become one of the top ten unregulated microfinance institutions n Nicaragua by portfolio size by 2012.
