Established in 1996, BASIX is a livelihood promotion institution that works with over a million and a half customers, over 90% of whom are rural poor households, and about 10% of whom are urban slum dwellers. Based in Hyderabad, it operates in over 10,000 villages in 15 states. Its mission is to promote a large number of sustainable livelihoods for the rural poor and women through the provision of financial services and technical assistance in an integrated manner. The products it offers are credit, savings, remittances, insurance and business development services.
BASIX strategy is to provide a comprehensive set of livelihood promotion services which include Financial Inclusion Services (FINS), Agricultural/ Business Development Services (Ag/BDS) and Institutional Development Services (IDS) to rural poor households under one umbrella.
