Africare is a private, charitable U.S. organization assisting Africa. Its programs address needs in three principal areas: Health and HIV/AIDS; food security and agriculture, and water resource development. It also supports programs in emergency response; environmental management; literacy and vocational training; microenterprise development; civil-society development and governance.
Its microenterprise development activities cover: functional literacy; vocational training; management training; training in credit and marketing; microlending; infrastructural development, and facilitation of market linkages. Africare reaches families and communities in 25 countries in every major region of Sub-Saharan Africa.
