The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group is a regional multilateral development finance institution established to contribute to the economic development and the social progress of African countries that are the institution’s Regional Member Countries (RMCs). Its shareholders include 53 African countries and 24 non-African countries from the Americas, Asia, and Europe. The mission of this development finance institution is to promote sustainable economic growth and reduce poverty in Africa through loans, investments and technical assistance. The AfDB has about 23 field and country offices across the continent. The Bank's headquarters is officially in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. However, because of political events in Côte d’Ivoire, the institution’s activities have temporarily been relocated to Tunis, Tunisia.
