ACCION International is a leading global microfinance network based in the USA. It provides a broad range of technical assistance, training, technology expertise, debt instruments, equity investments and governance support to MFIs in Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and sub-Saharan Africa. With a focus on commercial discipline and sustainability, ACCION has developed one of the strongest and largest networks of local partners in the world, many of which it helped to create. In 2008, ACCION and its partners served over 3.7 million active borrowers, and since 1998 it has loaned $23.4 billion to more than 7.7 million people. ACCION also serves microentrepreneurs in the US through the U.S. ACCION Network. 

The organization also regularly publishes microfinance research and publications. ACCION hosts the Center for Financial Inclusion whose mission is to advance the commercial model of microfinance while upholding the interests and needs of poor clients worldwide.

In 2009, it established its first ‘iLab,’ with longtime partner BancoSol in Bolivia. iLabs will be testing grounds for new microfinance products and processes designed to reduce the delivery costs of life-changing financial services. It has also recently launched EB-ACCION Savings and Loans in Accra, Ghana—its flagship operation with West African partner Ecobank. In addition, it is expanding in China, where it has laid the groundwork for lending operations in Inner Mongolia.
