Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) is a community development MFI with the focus on the empowerment of the poor and vulnerable. LAPO, founded in 1987 as an NGO, transformed into an organization in 1990 and incorporated social development programmes. Now, the organization is known as LAPO Development Foundation (LDF).

LDF implements LAPO programs geared towards enabling LAPO members, their communities understand the processes and structures that engender and sustain poverty and gender inequality and empower them to challenge and breakdown such processes and structures. These programme activities include gender sensitization aimed at reducing the level of gender inequity, social exclusion and health awareness activities namely reproductive health, child survival, prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
