The Centre for Microfinance and Livelihood (CML), founded in 2008 under the active support of Tata Social Welfare Trust (TSWT) an allied of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, has been set up with the aim of supporting and facilitating the initiatives of NGO/NGO-MFI and other social institutions of the Northeast region and to take up emergent issues concerning the sector as a whole.

CML presently functions in a project mode under Grameen Sahara, a lead non-governmental organization of Assam. Its vision is to be a lead catalyzing hub for enrichment of the microfinance sector of the NE region and evolve over time to respond to emerging needs. The center focuses on four major thematic domains while working with whole range of stakeholders, engaged in promotion of microfinance and livelihood generation initiatives. Those are organizational assessments, organizational capacity enhancement and development, livelihood linkage and promotion and sectoral influence and pro-action.
