Advanced standards for PPI use and reporting

This ADVANCED PPI Standards of Use document outlines a checklist for advanced PPI users.

The checklist has 4 categories which test for compliance with specific standards and requirements. They are:

  • Intent, which focuses on identifying SPM/PPI Champion to monitor the process, and PPI results informing policy or operational shift, product design decisions and/or market research;
  • Process, which involves clear instructions to all staff involved regarding process elements, integration of PPI data into MIS, checks for accuracy of data entry, restriction of access to consolidated PPI data to a few key staff members, back-ups for PPI scorecards;
  • Training to assess capacity of internal staff to train new staff, proper training of staff involved in data analysis;
  • Reporting, which focuses on integration of poverty levels into management reports and Annual Report, communication of results to field staff, Board and investors, reporting results to national associations, indication of funders for use of PPI in external reporting, and contextualization of poverty results with local poverty rates.

Organizations must meet all the BASIC standards and at least one ADVANCED standard from each of the above categories to be classified as advanced PPI users.
