Scholarship and Award Opportunities for Students Studying Microfinance

The University Meets Microfinance (UMM) Program, co-financed by the European Union. PlaNet Finance and Freie Universität Berlin, fosters cooperation between university students in Europe and microfinance practitioners to contribute to microfinance innovation and education for development. UMM offers the following opportunities:

UMM Awards for Final Theses
Three awards are granted annually to students who completed their final thesis in a Master or equivalent programme and are presenting outstanding research in the microfinance field. The winner will be invited to the International Microfinance Awards Ceremony 2010 in Paris.

The application deadline for the Awards Program is August 31, 2010.

UMM Scholarships for On-the-Field Research
Open to students planning or having completed a Bachelor, Master or PhD thesis on a microfinance-related topic, the program provides scholarships of up to EUR1500 (US$1900) for field research in microfinance-related topics. Eligible are students enrolled at a university of the European Union. The application deadline for the Scholarship Program is November 15, 2010 (Bachelor, Master).
