Social Development Fund Commits US$1Mln to Promote Microfinance in Gambia

Lamin Jobarteh, of the Social Development Fund, said that the microfinance scheme of the Entrepreneur Promotion and Microfinance Development Project (EPMDP) will make GMD 40 million (US$1 million) available for wholesaling to experienced and qualified non-bank financial institutions in the country. 

The component will support the development of the National Microfinance Policy, strengthen the regulatory environment and build the capacity of non-bank financial institutions and non-governmental organizations. It will also support the expansion of financial services and improvement of access to finance by the rural population.
