Central Bank of Nigeria to Conduct Exams for Managers of Microfinance Banks

As part of reforms in the banking industry Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will organize exams for managing directors of microfinance banks. Any manager who fails the test will cease to manage their banks. CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, said that a training program will commence in the first quarter of 2010 and any bank that does not comply with the rules will have its license withdrawn. Nigerian Vice President Goodluck Jonathan hailed the actions of CBN in sanitizing the banks and said that the actions were taken in the interest of the economy.
