About the Event:
This course focuses on the legal and regulatory issues related to microfinance in Eastern Europe. The course will provide an overview of the regional history of microfinance, analyzing the primary entities & mechanisms of financial service delivery in Eastern Europe; the regulatory challenges; commercialization choices and the legal issues related to accessing commercial capital, as well as the legal implications of new product offerings; analysis of consumer protection issues, discussing debtor/creditor rights and obligations; an overview of the IT and telecom initiatives for microfinance in the region and related legal/regulatory aspects.
