The Financial Times and International Finance Corporation (IFC) have announced the shortlist for the 2008 FT Sustainable Banking Awards.
The judging panel, which includes leading names from sustainable finance and development, has agreed on a shortlist of five institutions for each category of award, except Emerging Markets Sustainable Bank of the Year award. Under this category, three banks are shortlisted for each regional prize.
In the category for Banking at the Bottom of the Pyramid, several microfinance institutions were included:
- ASA, Bangladesh
- Banco Bradesco, Brazil
- ICICI Group, India
- Opportunity International UK
- Wizzit, South Africa
