How can you compare partners' performance and identify best practices?

Article illustrates the financial performance the PAMEAS network of cooperatives in Dakar which supplies savings products, both short and long term, and individual and group loan products. Report provides indicators that measure individual performance demonstrating DID performance standards based on six complementary dimensions:

  • Profitability and viability;
  • Efficiency;
  • Balance sheet structure;
  • Asset quality;
  • Growth;
  • Outreach and impact.
Indicators are calculated on a consolidated basis, trends measured and analysis is also done for each cooperative individually while data are presented on an annualised basis to facilitate comparisons. It concludes that monitoring has helped motivate higher levels of achievement and identify institutional weaknesses with the main objective to help partners reach financial viability as fast as possible.
