The Digital Finance Plus Innovation Platform (DF+) aims to build on digital finance models for innovations that contribute to achieving the SDGs. As almost all of these models are originating within the private sector, this program will offer public-private partnerships (PPPs) where UNCDF can assist private sector promoters to move their ideas forward. These may include proposals that ‘think outside the box’ of traditional donor processes and thus present an opportunity to engage the private sector earlier in the concept design phase.
UNCDF is seeking to establish a short-list of partners that UNCDF could assist to implement and grow their idea, including a commitment to help mobilize resources (grant, debt, equity) for and find opportunities to provide public recognition for the best ideas. There is thus no suggested guidance on the range of financing that UNCDF is open to considering. The projects financing plan should demonstrate how it would use grant funding to leverage private sector sources (debt and equity). If successful, UNCDF anticipates periodically reissuing and/or geographically broadening this call for proposals. Potential applicants who decide not to apply for this initial call would be encouraged to apply for subsequent calls.
