The vast majority of Kenyans use M-PESA on their mobile phones to store money and send it to others via text messages. New research by William Jack and Tavneet Suri shows that M-PESA usage over a six-year period lifted 2% of Kenyan households out of poverty, especially households headed by women. Is mobile money itself the driver of economic development?

Join  CGAP on 12 January 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am EST in Washington, DC or online for a roundtable discussion with William Jack, and learn more about his latest research on the impact of M-PESA on the economic lives of Kenyans.
